Monaghan County Council recently trialled a new asphalt technique aimed at cutting carbon emissions on the N2 national road. As part of the project, Hub360 was used to provide logistics and emissions tracking throughout the resurfacing works.

The Hub360 platform enabled:

  • Tracking of actual vs estimated tonnage removed

  • Monitoring of truck movements and activity per shift

  • Estimation of emissions from full and return journeys

  • Generation of project-wide and shift-specific CO₂ data

This data supported a clearer understanding of the emissions impact linked to material movement on the project.

How Hub360 Tackles Real Challenges in Road Maintenance and Circular Construction

1. Track Material Movements
Challenge: Ensuring that removed asphalt is properly tracked, recovered, and reused — without material going missing — can be difficult on busy roadworks.
Hub360’s Answer: Each load is recorded with timestamped GPS data, verifying its movement from the road to recovery or reuse locations. This guarantees traceability and supports circular economy goals.

2. Ensure Compliance with Confidence
Challenge: Meeting circular economy and environmental regulations requires accurate, timely reporting.
Hub360’s Answer: Hub360 automates compliance reporting, producing audit-ready data that makes it easier for councils and contractors to meet regulatory requirements.

3. Optimise Resource Use and Cut Waste
Challenge: Missed opportunities to reuse recovered materials lead to increased costs and unnecessary environmental impact.
Hub360’s Answer: The platform provides real-time insights into material flows, helping teams reduce waste and make informed decisions about resource use.

4. Full Oversight, in Real Time
Challenge: Without live visibility, it’s hard to track progress or ensure accountability across projects.
Hub360’s Answer: Live dashboards and shift-by-shift updates provide full transparency on material movements, improving coordination and sustainability outcomes.

As Ireland moves towards circular, data-informed construction practices, projects like this one in Monaghan show what's possible — combining material innovation with transparent reporting to lead by example.
